Studio News

Hello September! Fall is here bringing cooler temps and fading daylight.  The shift in season is inspiring us to cozy up our space with candlelight and hints of warm, earthy textures and tones.

We've painted some accent walls in the studio with Benjamin Moore's, Forest Floor.  It brings out all the beautiful texture in the concrete and the deep richness of the walnut in thePlatform Config 3. andQuadra mirror.

Knife Block - textured almost white

Add some liberation and play into your kitchen. The Concrete Knife Block is all about free-form organization for your knives and scissors.

A solid and clever solution, the concrete Knife Block is filled with 1800 removable bamboo sticks to firmly hold your assorted blade collection in place. It’s designed to stand upright or tilt with the addition of the stainless-steel stand. (stand sold separately)

Like all Studio50 designs, this is gorgeous, textural and functions better than any other knife block. We purchased with the stand and it looks gorgeous!

Feature Wine
letter "C"

This month our winery feature in the Rock Bottom starts with the letter “C”.

Picked upChâteu des Charmes  bottle of Chardonnay at our local grocery store (that shopping feature along with the fact they always ask to see my ID was pretty great :) until my bubble was burst when I was told it was store policy :(

This Chardonnay is “barrel-fermented, barrel-aged and regular stirring of the “lees” for one year in French oak barrels. The finished wine is classic old-world style; full-bodied and complex with nuances of citrus, melon and popcorn butter. It’s ready to drink now but will continue to develop in the bottle for a few years.”

For Bold wines like a Chardonnay it's ideal to have room for it to breath, so we used our Rock Bottom 2.0 with its 2000ml flask. It offers a bottle of wine space for swirling and introducing it to lots of fresh air.

How-To
Chill the concrete base in the freezer for 4 hours and the bottle of Chardonnay in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Pour the wine from bottle to flask and let the it rest (swirl away here) for about 15 mins. Serving temp will be approx 11 degrees for about 1.5 hours.

Our first month of re-opening the studio has been amazing and we are so grateful to those of you who have come out to visit us and support Canadian design. For those farther than a day trip away, thank-you so much for your on-line orders and all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last month!

Our studio destination is open Friday and Saturdays 10-3
Free Shipping on online orders over $200

Until next month, Cheers from the Studio50 Team
