In the Rock Bottom | Summer 2016

Who doesn't love summer... surrounded by greenery and all the fresh loveliness that comes with it?  Fun in the sun, barbecues with family and friends, and local goodness available from farmers markets, road side stands and our very own garden!

One of our favorite ways to use the Rock Bottom Tasse is for dressings. The recipe we are sharing is amazing on pretty much everything (for real).  Drizzle it on salad, marinate your meats with it,  and it is delicious for bread dipping.

This homemade dressing is easy to make and open to improvisation. Use what you have on hand. Feel free to swap out the oil for another kind you have in your pantry as well as the vinegar, herbs and mustard.   In our kitchen this is the go to and one that everyone in our family can enjoy.

One ingredient that gives this dressing a wonderful smokey taste is this salt made and sold at The New New Age, owned and operated by the lovely duo Katie and Stephen. Their unique market/bistro/brew pub experience is located in the beautiful town of Port Stanley and is totally worth a road trip.

The harvesting of earth's bounty is always extra special when served in lovely handmade pieces.  Artisans Marie-Joel and Jordan of Atelier Trema  located in Bedford, Quebec craft beautiful pottery that is impossible to resist, like their berry bowl, which is perfect for washing and serving our tender greens.

The Rock Bottom Tasse flask is 250ml (1 cup) so it is perfect size for serving dressing. We make the concrete base for the Tasse in two styles, Gaia and Stratus.  If you want to check them out here is the link to our SHOP.

Below is a list and approximate ingredient measurements for you to follow. Some folks like things salter or sweeter or tangier, so again, experiment with this blend.

3 teaspoons of fresh chopped herbs of your choice

2 teaspoons Dijon Mustard

2-3 tablespoons Maple Syrup

1/2 cup Olive Oil

1/3 cup  Rice Vinegar

1/2 teaspoon Applewood Smoked Salt (or plain sea salt)

1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

1/2 lemon or lime freshly squeeze juice

 This will give you one full Tasse of dressing! Enjoy.
