There is something very special about the fall.

The transformation that we witness all around us is a reminder that we should always look for the opportunity to transform our own lives, even if it’s a little here and there. It’s these subtle changes that keep us young, continually inspired and alive!

Cerebral moments aside… fall spoils us with amazing local produce, natural beauty and a string of celebrations that encourage us to share good times with family and friends over good food (and maybe a couple of drinks). Can you see where this is going?

As the weather cools down and we look for ways to warm up, there really isn’t anything better than a delicious hot soup, kept warm in one of our Rock Bottom Vessels. A perfect base for any soup is a proper broth. We would like to share a Bone Broth recipe that we’re especially keen on.

We make the Bone Broth in the crock pot using the remnants of a previous day’s roasted chicken. Cook the broth for 24 hours in water, herbs, salt, pepper and a splash of apple cider.

Once the broth is nears the 24-hour mark, add a sprig of fresh lemongrass and some basil leaves. Strain the broth through a sieve and add some coconut cream. Once everything is mixed together nicely, slowly add the broth to your Rock Bottom Vessel flask. We recommend the Tasse for 1 cup of broth, the Vessel for a small group and the 2.0 for a larger gathering.

Here’s where you can have some fun, whether enjoying a family meal or a festive rendezvous. Pick out an assortment of fresh ingredients to build your very own soup. Grate or cut your veggies thinly so when the hot broth is poured over them, they will slightly cook. For a bit more substance, throw in a cooked starch like noodles, rice or potatoes.

Once each bowl is brimming with goodness, it’s time to bring it all together! Pour your oh-so-delicious hot bone broth over the ingredients of each bowl (with caution) and dive in (once everyone has one… manners people).
