Looking for a unique and creative way to spend a morning? Book a spot in one of our workshops!
You'll learn about concrete, and then use your new skills to hand-cast your own beautiful pieces in the space where Kim & Steve cast all of the studio50 designs.
Steve and I (Kim), the husband and wife team behind Studio50 have over 12 years of concrete experience and will be leading you through the couple hours of hands-on learning.
After you've successfully cast your pieces, you will have a tour of our workshop and studio which is located on our rural 2 acre property, and then we'll celebrate your concrete casting with a light lunch and some refreshments.
Enjoy a little break from your everyday and experience concrete with us.
A Great way to spend an afternoon with friends and you have something to commemorate the experience in the end. The studio is gorgeous, warm and welcoming. Both Steve and Kim are wonderful, patient teachers! I highly recommend this workshop even for those with no casting experience!

The mid-mod vase work shop was excellent and I’m proud to display my vases in my home. Learning about cement and concert was informative and then following this with hands on work was fun. Kim and Steve were right there to help, guide and ensure each piece was a success. The tour of the workshops and seeing works in progress was very interesting. The garden space where we gathered for home baked cake and drinks was so peaceful and calm. This was a wonderful way to spend a summer Saturday morning.

My workshop at “Studio 50” was more than a workshop! Kim and Steve are the perfect teachers on a first time cement workshop! They both made you feel like you’ve been their friends for years! The inclusion for us all was so welcoming! The mid-mod vases are proudly on display in my house and are always a conversation piece! Their creativity and beautiful workshop makes you want to overstay your welcome! As also said, they were patient and made sure everyone was successful when casting! I will be back to do another workshop in the near future! The tour of their workshop has given me much more insight of what goes into their beautiful pieces! Thanks again Kim and Steve, it was a pleasure!

A Few in-progress Photos
What should I bring?
We supply everything you will need. You just need to bring yourself! We provide aprons, safety glasses, dust masks, and nitrile gloves to help keep most of the dust/debris from getting onto your clothes. Like any activity where you have the potential to get materials on your clothing, please wear clothing that you are OK with getting a little concrete on.
Does it matter if I come late to the workshop?
We ask all participates to plan on making sure they are here and ready to begin on time. We will be sharing and demonstrating to you the process first which will be super helpful when it's your turn to start mixing and pouring your casts.
Where is the workshop held?
Studio50 Living is located at 772 Governors Road East, Paris Ontario. Our workshops are held in the 2nd floor loft area of our studio space in the 100 year old barn that we've restored and converted to our studio shop and learning loft. There will also be a little behind the scenes tour of our workshop space which is an old army base hanger, located on the back of our 2 acre property.

I love your style of concrete, can you teach me how to make my concrete look exactly like yours?
We're thrilled that you love Studio50 concrete furniture and homewares, thank you! The textured gaia grey and textured almost-white is our signature personal style that we have created over several years. We will not be demonstrating or discussing this artistic process. The focus of the workshops are for you to experience the basics of hand-casting, the importance of a mold, and learning what qualities you should be looking for in a "sound" and sealed concrete piece.
Is this workshop suitable for children?
Our workshops are not suitable for children. Participants must be 15 years or older.
When do I get to take home my concrete pieces?
The pieces you cast will need to cure for 24 hours before they are removed from the mold. Someone from the Studio50 team (Kim, Steve or Julie) will de-mold your casts, give them a light sand and give them one coat of sealer. Once they are ready, we will email you for the pickup at our studio. If you would prefer us to ship them, you can add that option from our workshop page.
