It has been 2 weeks since our last update so there is lots to share! Christmas at studio50's open haus was a weekend full of familiar faces and lots of new ones. Everyone out to visit got a glimpse of what we've been up too, were taken on a tour to see progress of the design haus and enjoy a bit of holiday cheer with us and the chefs from, The Whole Pantry. Glad those little cheese balls were such a hit! As they say, everything looks better in a circle...   DSC_0075   DSC_0077   DSC_0041   Congratulations to our tisch board winner Stephanie who came out for a visit and picked up her board!   DSC_0069   And, another big congratulations goes out to our holiday winner for the draw of a rock bottom vessel, YAHHH....JUDY! The design haus is moving along with lots of progress. We received the "check" of approval for the framing of the building. The side doors are all in and foamed.  It has been great to design this building supporting our green vision by using materials found on kijiji since we had no set designs for doors and windows our options were wide open.   DSC_0017   The steel roofing and ridge have all been completed, with thankfully warmer than seasonal temperatures.   DSC_0016   Here's a little glimpse of the inside of the haus.  Steve has temporarily framed and boarded the 2 large door openings until they arrive sometime in the beginning of January.  We will be wiring, insulating and finishing the flooring and drywall until then.   DSC_0018   DSC_0019   This last week Steve and I got to put on our makers workshop hats as well.  We have enjoyed 2  evenings with wonderful folks sharing the vision of studio50's trenchers and rock bottom vessels.   DSC_0022   We love this picture, cause really, trenching is just pretty amazing!   DSC_0024     DSC_0028   Many of our makers were out to make something special for someone this Christmas, so pictures are a bit censored. All the projects have turned out amazing and the lucky person receiving them will be thrilled and touched with all the care and thought crafted into them. Well done everyone!   DSC_0037   DSC_0039   We will be in back again soon with some interior updates for lighting! (so exciting) and ceiling ideas (hint it will be shiny and wavy). We have also been on the hunt for a wood stove for the design haus.  Makes sense to use up some of that scrap wood we accumulate quiet a bit of.  It will add a wonderful ambiance to the concept.   Til next week Cheers kim and steve

Ever wondered what the difference is between cement and concrete? Well, maybe not...but here at Studio50, concrete is an everyday thing. It’s not unusual to hear the two terms used interchangeably, but they are definitely two very different things.
