    Studio50 Living in February 2021

It seemed like an extra long month even though there were only 28 days, but another February has come and gone and lots of designing and making has happened here at the studio.

We worked on a new mix design for our Konkret Platz and Konkret Knife Block that does not require wet polishing (thank goodness!) which means we can offer these pieces year-round! A new colour was introduced to the Knife Block Collection - Textured White - perfect for that fresh, minimal look.

Some rearranging happened in the studio and we're slowly getting things organized and ready to reopen. We brought in beautiful European linens and other functional pieces for the home that you can check out in our online shop - kitchen collection

Like so many of you, we have tried to make time to relax and find warmth during this cold month with some serious thoughts about how amazing a sauna would be!

The permaculture gardens around the studio - designed and planned last year will have the currents, gooseberries and the herb wheel planting this spring. All the plants are ordered, and we're getting the gardening gear out, and patiently waiting for the ground to thaw. We'll share all the green goodness as we make progress with these outdoor projects!

February was wine month so filling up (and emptying) one of our Rock Bottom pieces every Friday on Instagram was a delicious start to the weekend! We sampled some lovely "Buried Red"  from Luckett Vineyards in Nova Scotia, a warming spice wine using a Frost Bites Fun Spiced Cranberry Cordial, a simple yet elegant bubbly sipper shown below and a Sunny Sangria that had our taste buds dreaming of spring. Concrete wall spot was another new product introduced and we are having a ball "spot styling" with these concrete wall accessories.

Completing the loft was on the to-do list in February. The old post and beam chicken barn - now the studio,  is almost done. Just those last few remaining details like trim, finishing the stairs and getting the bathrooms installed are left to complete.

Platform pieces have been keeping the casting tables busy and the Config 5 coffee table was the star of the collection in February and may well be the favorite piece for March.

There are new designs coming in March! The Mehr Collection and the Shallow Bowl. Here's a sneak peak until the release, which we'll announce very soon in our monthly newsletter.

Til our next recap in March.

Ever wondered what the difference is between cement and concrete? Well, maybe not...but here at Studio50, concrete is an everyday thing. It’s not unusual to hear the two terms used interchangeably, but they are definitely two very different things.
